Two men held as cops seize stolen fridge in back of AD wagon

Detectives attached to the May Pen Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged two men with receiving stolen property and house breaking and larceny, in relation to an incident that occurred in Hartwell Gardens, May Pen in the parish on Thursday, October 15.

They are: 22-year-old Christoff Scott otherwise called ‘Bredda’, a construction worker and 29-year-old Romario Chantilou otherwise called ‘Kangaroo’, both of Hazard drive, May Pen , Clarendon.

Reports from the lawmen are that during an operation carried out on the date mentioned above; a Nissan AD wagon, driven by Chantilou with Scott as a passenger was driving along the roadway in Hartwell Gardens.

He was signalled to stop— he complied. A search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search a refrigerator valued at approximately JMD 246,000 was seen in the back of the motorcar.

Chantilou and Scott were arrested. Further investigation by the lawmen revealed that the refrigerator was reported stolen between August 30 and October 14.

The men were subsequently charged. A court date for them is being finalised.
