The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the separate deaths of two prisoners who were both in custody at the Half-Way Tree Police Station lockup in St Andrew.

The latest incident occurred on Friday when 68-year-old Donovan Phillips died at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) while being treated.

Phillips was reportedly being held at the lockup on serious charges, including murder.

Reports are that about 3:30 pm on Friday, the elderly man complained of feeling ill inside his cell.

He was assisted to the KPH, where he later died.

On Tuesday, September 24, another prisoner at the lockup, David Satchel, was found unresponsive inside his cell.

He was assisted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Satchel, who was said to be in his 50s, was in custody relative to allegations of him having committed a sex crime.
