Member of Parliament for West Portland, Daryl Vaz and People’s National Party, General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, have expressed relief that the defamation matter has been settled.
This, after the case was heard in the Supreme Court and Dr. Campbell was ordered to publicly apologise for comments he made about Vaz while on a political platform in 2023.
In a post on social media, Vaz noted that as the Jamaica Labour Party celebrates 83 years, it is fitting that his family can also celebrate a personal win regarding a most distasteful political smear campaign that was launched against him and his family over 40 years ago.
Vaz expressed appreciation to those who provided support and encouraged him to pursue the matter.
He said he will make the details public when appropriate.
Also in a social media post, Dr Campbell said he is happy that this matter is now at an end.
Dr Campbell said a settlement has been reached with all parties involved and that he can now move on with his life.
He has also expressed appreciation to his legal team, friends and family.
