The Vybz Kartel Freedom Street Concert was staged at the National Stadium on Tuesday, December 31 and attracted a bumper crowd with fans flying in from as far as Australia, the continent of Africa and Europe.
The Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston experienced a surge in activity between December 22 and December 30, 2024, welcoming over 31,000 passengers. This marked a 27 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
Senior Tourism Advisor and Strategist, Delano Seiveright attributes the uptick in arrivals to the airport in Kingston in part to the Downsound Entertainment-organised Vybz Kartel Freedom Street Concert at the National Stadium on New Year's Eve.
Joe Bogdanovich is the CEO of Downsound Entertainment.
"So far, data shows that nearly 7,000 more passengers landed at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston between December 22 and December 30, 2024 vis a vis December 22 to December 30, 2023, Seiveright noted on New Year’s Eve.
"Busy holiday season indeed and no doubt that the Joe Bogdanovich-led and organised New Year’s Eve show accounts for a fair share of those increased numbers," he added.
Between December 22 to 30, 2024 around 31,646 passengers arrived at the airport in Kingston, in comparison to the around 24,935 arrivals over the same period in 2023.
"This is a 27 per cent uptick in arrivals for Kingston!" an upbeat Seiveright expressed.
