The St Andrew South Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) has charged a man with larceny as a servant and conspiracy to larceny as a servant following an incident at his place of employment between Thursday, August 1 and Monday August 26, 2024.

Charged is 33-year-old Simon Smith, a warehouse assistant of West Potterdale Place, Gregory Park, St Catherine.

Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that Smith allegedly relocated several items in the warehouse to an unauthorised section of the facility where he worked, and later caused the items to be loaded onto the company truck and transported off the compound.

The items are estimated to be collectively valued at some $4 million.

However, the items were subsequently recovered and Smith was later arrested.

He was charged on Saturday, February 22 following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

He is to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, March 7.
