The clean up of waste in communities surrounding the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James, will be carried out by the upcoming weekend.
The assurance came from the St James Public Health Services, following a protest by upset nurses at the hospital last Friday.
Parish Manager Lennox Wallace acknowledged the concerns of the nurses.
He noted that the rodent problem, is not from the hospital, but due to waste pile up in the communities around it.
Mr. Wallace said the passage of Hurricane Melissa last October contributed to the pile up.
Mr. Wallace said on January 23 and 24, teams will be in the area, removing bulky waste and setting rat baits.
He added, that the initiative will continue for a 6 month period.
