WMW and community and youth empowerment organizations stage protest against gender-based violence

WMW Jamaica (formerly Women’s Media Watch), together with community and youth empowerment organisations staged a protest in the corporate area yesterday against gender-based violence.

Participants dressed in black t-shirts, held placards bearing messages such as, ‘domestic violence harms children’.

The protest was held under the theme  “enough is enough: no more violence, no more silence.”

An advocate for men, who said he was abused,  called for all abuse to stop.

Another protester called on the government to implement new legislation to help deter gender-based violence.
