The Road Safety Unit (RSU) is reporting that 31 road users were killed in 23 fatal crashes across the country during the month of September.
According to the RSU, fatalities decreased by 11 per cent while fatal crashes decreased by 28 per cent when compared with September 2023.
The organisation said pedestrians accounted for 32 per cent of the road users killed during the month, private motor vehicle drivers accounted for 19 per cent, and private motor vehicle passengers accounted for 16 per cent.
The RSU said motorcyclists accounted for 13 per cent of the fatalities during the month under review; there were no fatalities recorded among pillion riders and pedal cyclists during the reporting period.
However, passengers accounted for 29 per cent of all road users killed during the month.
Males accounted for 68 per cent of the road fatalities while females accounted for 32 per cent.
With 29 per cent, the parish of St Andrew accounted for the majority of the road deaths during the period while St Catherine accounted for 23 per cent.
