Fidel Ferguson
Fidel Ferguson, who escaped from police custody at the Barnett Street lockup in Montego Bay, St James on Saturday morning, has been recaptured by the police in Spot Valley in the parish.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) provided the update in a post on Instagram on Sunday morning.
Later, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) said reports from the Montego Bay police are that about 3am on Sunday, law enforcers were summoned by residents of Paisley district in the parish after Ferguson told them that he had been shot by unknown assailants.
On the arrival of police officers, Ferguson, who was identified as one of the escapees, was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
He was taken to the hospital, where he is being treated under police guard.
Ferguson, a 36-year-old resident of Mountain View, Greenwood, St James, was one of five prisoners who escaped custody from the lockup between the hours of 5am and 6am on Saturday.
He is charged with larceny of motor vehicle.
Late on Saturday, another of the escapees, Edgar Spence, was fatally shot during a reported confrontation with the police in Valley Heights, St James. He had been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, among other crimes.
The three escapees who remain at large are:
- Tyrese Brown, 22, of Albert Town, Trelawny, who is charged with murder, rape and other offenses.
- Daniel Mclntosh, 23, of Peddlars Lane, St James, who is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and other crimes.
- Maurice Belnavis, 43, of Norwood, St James, who is charged with simple larceny.
