Approximately 1800 ailing Jamaicans have received support through the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education (CHASE) Fund Medical Assistance Programme.

CHASE’s Chief Executive Officer, Wilford Heaven made the disclosure while speaking with the Financial Corner.

He said beneficiaries have received assistance in cancer-care and end-state renal disease.

Mr. Heaven also assured that the Medical Assistance Programme is targeted, structured and governed by clear policy guidelines.

He noted however that the programme is only part of a broader support effort at CHASE.

He points to existing initiatives and the planned establishment of a dialysis centre in St. Ann.

Mr. Heaven said long-term measures are being considered to ensure more people can have access to the care they need.
