The Health Ministry plans to develop a comprehensive, research-based policy framework to address the impact of social media on children and adolescents in Jamaica.
Portfolio Minister DR. Christopher Tufton noted that there is growing concern about children’s exposure to harmful online content, excessive screen time, cyber bullying, and the broader mental health implications associated with social media use among young people.
He said the Ministry will explore several key policy and intervention areas including the establishment of national digital health guidelines.
Dr. Tufton was making his contribution to the Sectoral debate in parliament yesterday.
