A police dog reportedly helped lawmen in making a significant breakthrough in the murder investigation of Kadene Beswick in Catherine Hall, St. James, on Friday, May 1.

The 38-year-old hotel worker from Catherine Hall was stabbed to death.

Reports are that at about 12:30 a.m., police were summoned to Beswick’s home.

Upon arrival, she was seen lying on her back with multiple stab wounds.

An investigation was launched, and several individuals were interviewed.

Various forensic tools were also employed to gather critical evidence.

Police say a major turning point in the case came with the deployment of a trained dog from the Constabulary’s Canine Division.

The dog assisted investigators in locating key pieces of evidence, including the weapon believed to have been used in the attack and clothing linked to the suspect.

A suspect was subsequently arrested and is expected to be formally charged and brought before the court.

Area 1 Crime Officer, Superintendent Jermaine Anglin, described the murder as a senseless act and emphasized the unwavering commitment of detectives across the area to pursue justice through all lawful means.

He noted that the successful use of specialized resources highlights the determination of law enforcement to solve crimes and provide closure to grieving families.
