The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) is calling for the immediate resignation of Shane Dalling as Chief Executive Officer of the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA).
The call comes in the wake of a probe by the Integrity Commission in the FLA and the report of its findings, which highlighted, among other things accountability gaps.
The Opposition noted that the issues raised in the commission’s report, to include claims of missing ammunition, sales attributed to a deceased licensed firearms dealer, and loss of information due to system crash, occurred during Dalling’s tenure as CEO.
Spokesperson on National Security, Fitz Jackson said these failures strike at the heart of public confidence.
Mr. Jackson added that National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang’s indication that the FLA is tightening its firearm and ammunition storage and operational procedures is insufficient.
