The Bank of Jamaica says the banking sector is just now recovering from the significant negative impact of Hurricane Melissa on the ABM infrastructure.

Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Dr. Jide Lewis says 90 to 95% of ABMs were back by March.

Concerns have been raised about malfunctioning ABMs and following the hurricane other concerns have been raised about access to the machines in some sections of the country.

Dr. Lewis says not all ABMs that were destroyed have been replaced.

Meantime, the BOJ Deputy Governor says the central bank does not have the ability to penalize institutions which do not meet service level standards.
