Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) President Mark Malabver says the union will soon approach the Government regarding special compensation for teachers in western parishes affected by Hurricane Melissa.
While not divulging specific details, Mr. Malabver said there are policies that outline how teachers and schools are to be treated in the aftermath of hurricanes and other natural disasters.
He was speaking at the association’s recent Disaster Risk Management and Recovery in Education Forum
