Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited says it’s cooperating with authorities following multi-agency raid and probe into cocaine seizure last week

Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) says it will continue to cooperate with the appropriate authorities following a multi-agency raid on Friday.

Police reported that employees of the Terminal are suspected of being part of a drug smuggling syndicate operating at the facility.

The operation follows an investigation into the seizure of approximately one billion dollars’ worth of cocaine last week.

In a statement this morning, KFTL confirmed that over the past week, irregularities were identified during routine and enhanced security monitoring at the terminal.

It said that, in response, the police’s Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division and the Jamaica Customs Agency conducted a joint operation at the facility.

It confirmed that six people were taken in for questioning by the authorities.

KFTL said it will not comment on specific details at this time as the matter is still being probed
