CONSTRUCTION OF RIO COBRE WATER TREATMENT PLANT ABOUT 53% COMPLETE – IRIE Fm

Construction of the Rio Cobre Water Treatment Plant in Content, St. Catherine is 53% complete.
The project is expected to transform water security for approximately 600,000 residents across Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Catherine.
Water Minister Matthew Samuda toured the project site yesterday.
Mr. Samuda said the $92 million project is being developed through a public-private partnership to produce $15 million imperial gallons of potable water daily providing a critical safeguard against the increasing impacts of drought.
He said the project is expected to be completed by May next year.
