Eastern Westmoreland MP gives support to protesting residents of Cave, calls on Works Minister to respond
Member of Parliament for eastern Westmoreland Dr. Dayton Campbell, is giving support to protesting residents of Cave and has called on Works Minister Robert Morgan to have the Cave to Kentucky road repaired.
Residents are reportedly frustrated about the poor state of the road.
Dr. Campbell says the road was approved under the Government’s SPARK programme but has been left undone in a deplorable, near-impassable state.
He says the situation was compounded by the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, and the people of eastern Westmoreland have had enough.
Noting that eastern Westmoreland was the site of Hurricane Melissa’s landfall, he states that the destruction to the road network was severe and immediate.
Dr. Campbell states that seven months later, not a single repair has been carried out.
According to him, farmers cannot move produce, schoolchildren face dangerous daily journeys, emergency services are impeded, and entire communities are effectively cut off.
Dr. Campbell is calling on Mr. Morgan to address the plight of the people of Cave to Kentucky.
