KSAMC warns persons who destroy entertainment event billboards to cease and desist
The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) is warning persons who destroy entertainment event billboards to cease and desist.
If such action is continued they face prosecution.
In a statement, the KSAMC said it has been made aware of incidents where members of the public are deliberately destroying billboards advertising entertainment events.
The most recent report was received yesterday.
The corporation said this behaviour is wrong and is strongly condemned.
The KSAMC called on individuals to stop engaging in these acts immediately.
Members of the public who witness this behaviour are encouraged to take photographs, where it is safe to do so, and report the matter to the police.
In condemning the actions, Kingston Mayor Andrew Swaby noted that the entertainment sector, like many other industries, is already feeling the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
Mayor Swayby said these acts are not helpful and only increase costs for party promoters who are already under pressure.
He stressed that people should be sensitive to the wider consequences of their actions.
The Mayor said the KSAMC will not tolerate the destruction of legally placed promotional material.
He said where offenders are identified, the matter will be reported to the police.
