The contested National Reconstruction Resilience Authority (NaRRA) Bill was passed without amendment after a marathon sitting of the Senate yesterday.
This, amidst concerns raised by the Opposition, the Church and civil society groups about proper oversight and accountability.
At 8:13 PM, after hours of deliberations and after several proposed amendments were shot down by Government Senators, House Clerk Colleen Lowe read the passed Bill.
The NaRRA Bill aims to establish a single central authority to lead, coordinate and speed up post-hurricane reconstruction efforts, particularly following the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa last October.
