Normal operations resume at Spanish Town Hospital and Police Station after bomb threats

Normal operations have resumed at the Spanish Town Hospital and the Spanish Town Police Station following bomb threats late last night.

Enhanced security measures are now in place at both locations.

The threats were reported approximately 11:49 p.m.

Emergency personnel including firefighters responded and conducted searches at the hospital compound.

Staff members were instructed to evacuate the premises while the search was executed.

No explosive device or suspicious items was found.

According to reports, some medical staff remained on site to continue procedures for patients who were already undergoing surgery at the time of the threat.

Commanding Officer for St. Catherine North, Senior Superintendent of Police Hopton Nicholson told IRIE FM News that all protocols and safety procedures were observed at the police station and normal operations have resumed.

He said the matter is not being taken lightly.

Authorities have not released further details about the source of the threats.

Investigations are ongoing.
