The National Works Agency (NWA) has completed the $50-million beautification work in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
The NWA says it was completed within two weeks.
The agency targeted several areas in and around the township for improvements.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says the substantial completion of the work came about through a strategic decision to have some activities undertaken at night.
He says the night work caused minimal disruptions in traffic and the cooperation of business interests and local residents was also key to the successful execution of the works.
The work involved the removal of soft spots, the construction of sidewalks and repaving.
Mr. Shaw says road markings and installation of raised pavement markers will be done shortly.
In order to achieve maximum value from the road markings, they are usually done sometime after the paving works are completed.
