The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has announced three international friendlies for the Reggae Girlz as part of their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, set to begin in 2025.
The Reggae Girlz will face World No. 10 France in a friendly on Friday, October 25, at Stade Auguste-Bonal, the home ground of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in eastern France. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:05 pm Jamaica time.
This match marks the first meeting between the teams since the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia, where the Reggae Girlz pulled off a major shock by holding France to a 0-0 draw at Sydney Football Stadium on July 23, earning their first-ever World Cup point.
Jamaica went on to reach the round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup for the first time by holding Brazil to a 0-0 draw on August 2 in Melbourne, while France advanced to the quarterfinals.
The Reggae Girlz will also host South Africa, ranked 50th, in two home friendlies on November 29 and December 2. This will be the teams' first meeting since a 1-1 draw in Durban in April 2019.
JFF president Michael Ricketts welcomed the upcoming matches, stating, "We want to give our Reggae Girlz the best opportunity to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and we believe these friendlies will benefit the coaching staff and players in preparation for the qualifiers."
Concacaf will have four automatic spots for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Brazil, with two additional teams advancing to the intercontinental playoffs.
