The Custos Centenarian Story-telling Series was launched in St. Ann, recently.
It was launched by Custos Joseph Issa at the Bamboo Blu Beach, in Mammee Bay on February 26.
During the ceremony, 101-year-old resident Agnes Johnson told stories of her childhood to the audience, which included mostly school children, teachers and members of the community.
Ms. Johnson was also honored with a plaque.
The Centenarian Story Telling Series is aimed at highlighting the many elderly legends within or linked to St. Ann while providing the opportunity for others to learn from their experiences.
It is expected that the initiative will help to preserve valuable life stories and historical experiences, promote empathy and intergenerational bonding and enhance students’ listening, communication and documentational skills.
