Some St. Elizabeth residents and taxi operators blocked a section of the Lacovia main road near the Burnt Savannah intersection this morning, as they protested bad roads and breakaways.

Downed trees and debris were used to create blockades.

Commuters were reportedly left stranded until police cleared the roadway.

This is the third time protestors have blocked the road since last week.

They protested about flooding in the area last Tuesday and Thursday as they called for the clearing of a drain to alleviate the problem.

Santa Cruz Councillor Christopher Williams said there are two major breakaways which the taxi operators are disgruntled about.

He said he met with Works Minister Robert Morgan about the concerns.

Councillor Williams noted that works are expected to begin in short order.
