Twenty four families remain in shelters in St. James following the passage of Hurricane Melissa last October.

Mayor of Montego Bay Richard Vernon says the 36 individuals are being housed at community centres.

He explains that efforts are being made to have them receive modular homes.

The mayor indicates that the  process is delayed as persons need to show proof of ownership of the properties for construction to commence.

Mayor Vernon is hoping the issue can be resolved quickly.
