“Have mercy!” Small businesses call on large manufacturers and distributors to apply restraint with cost increases
This content originally appeared on Jamaica News.
With several companies issuing recent notices of price adjustments, a call is being made for Jamaica’s largest corporate players to consider restraint in the cost increases.
As geopolitical pressures, such as the ongoing war in the Middle East, impact global fuel costs, some local entities have opted to raise their prices.
Some companies have also reported that the adjustment has become necessary due to the Holness Administration’s introduction of the Special Consumption Tax on sugary drinks.
In light of these developments, President of the Small Business Association of Jamaica, Garnett Reid, is urging large manufacturers and distributors to ease the burden on households and small enterprises already stretched by inflation and fuel costs.
