A 67-year-old man from Hanover is facing a wounding with intent charge after a dispute with a 15-year-old boy escalated and resulted in the teen being chopped.

The older man, Igal Streets, otherwise called ‘Border’, a carpenter of Montpelier district in Sandy Bay, was arrested following the incident in his community on Monday.

Reports from the Sandy Bay police are that about 3:07pm, Streets and the 15-year-old had an altercation, and the teen was chopped, reportedly by Streets, with a machete.

He was assisted to the hospital where he was treated and released, the police said.

A report was made to the police and a statement collected from the teen, which the police said implicated Streets.

A court date for him is being finalized, the police said.
