The St Andrew Central Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old mechanic of East Loop Road, Montego Bay, St James with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition following an incident in Mona Commons on Saturday, September 14.
Reports from the Half-Way-Tree Police are that at about 11:05pm, lawmen were on patrol in the area when they saw a group of men acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.
Upon approaching the men Okeito Hibbert pulled something from his waistband and threw it under a car before running off.
He was pursued and later apprehended by the lawmen. He was taken back to the area where the firearm was found with ten rounds of ammunition.
Hibbert was charged for the offences and placed in custody. His court date is being finalised.
