Foreign Affairs Minister, Kamina Johnson Smith says there is no concern over what she calls misplaced perspective on the Prime Minister’s address in St. Kitts and Nevis, last month.

In his address at the Opening Ceremony of the 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, Dr. Andrew Holness spoke about United States / Cuba tensions as the island deals with the impact of an oil embargo.

In response to Dr. Holness’ address, U.S. Congressman Carlos Gimenez, took to his X account, warning that Jamaica will face the consequences.

When asked about the matter at a Post-Cabinet Press Briefing this morning, Mrs. Johnson Smith said the general consensus showed that the Prime Minister’s speech was balanced and expressed the complexity of the circumstances of the relationship of Cuba with the region.

She said the government is also confident that the U.S. administration has broadly recognized the speech in the same way.
