Two men fatally shot by police in Manchester, last evening

Two men were fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police in Williamsfield, Manchester last evening.

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Acting Head of the Manchester Police, Deputy Superintendent Luhas Daniels said the confrontation occurred at about 8:45 p.m. when lawmen signaled the driver of a vehicle to stop at the Williamsfield Roundabout.

However, it’s reported that the driver disobeyed and sped off.

Police reportedly pursued them and it’s alleged that the men opened fire before stopping along the Melrose Hill Bypass.

Further reports are that a shoot-out ensued during which two men were hit.

They were taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police say a pistol with nine rounds was allegedly seized following the confrontation.

The Independent Commission of Investigations( INDECOM) is probing the incident.

It said 51 people have died in alleged confrontations with the security forces since January.
