Member of Parliament for Western Westmoreland, Ian Hayles, says political representatives in the parish have been working to calm growing public frustration and discourage residents from resorting to protests over poor service and infrastructure challenges.

The most recent protest was on Monday in Hertford, Petersfield, where taxi operators withdrew their services and mounted a roadblock, citing poor road conditions.

Mr. Hayles said there continues to be suffering as basic issues remain unresolved.

He said he recently intervened in protests about garbage collection, deteriorating road conditions and a lack of support for small entrepreneurs.

Hayles was speaking yesterday at a People’s National Party press briefing.
