Gov’t taking steps to reduce importation of Irish potatoes, onions and animal feed

Agriculture Minister Floyd Green says the government is taking steps to reduce the importation of Irish potatoes, onions and animal feed.
He made the statement at a post Sectoral Debate engagement on Thursday.
Mr. Green said while Jamaica has been doing well at reducing onion importation, more effort is needed.
He said the government will be establishing 3 semi-commercial onion dryers this year.
Mr. Green added that the ministry is exploring options for local animal feed production and substitutes.
