Opposition Spokesperson on National Security, Fitz Jackson is urging the Police High Command to deploy community relations teams to Granville, St. James following a police fatal shooting on Sunday.
The incident, which led to the death of 45-year-old Lotoya Bulgin, otherwise called “Buju” of Granville, reportedly occurred while the community was protesting the police fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy days before.
Mr. Jackson said Bulgin’s death happened at a time when the community is already shaken by grief and anger.
He said the deployment of community relations teams is necessary to de-escalate tensions and reassure residents.
