Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has assured that the government is taking steps to reform the energy sector and cut high electricity costs so that more businesses can invest in Jamaica.
Dr. Holness commended Sutherland Jamaica for its decision to invest in Jamaica and for serving as an example of how the use of renewable energy can help transform the nation.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for Sutherland Jamaica’s solar renewable energy initiative, Dr. Holness again noted that Jamaica’s electricity sector must change.
The Prime Minister stressed that renewable energy augurs well for businesses that want to lower costs, as well as to be able to compete locally and internationally.
Dr. Holness said for Jamaica to be a high-growth economy, energy costs must be reduced.
