The Government remains committed to pursuing a multi-faceted approach to dismantling criminal networks responsible for trafficking and use of illegal firearms in the country.

This was stated by Justice Minister Delroy Chuck, while speaking at a firearms identification and classification training workshop for legal personnel at the Institute of Science and Legal Medicine in St. Andrew yesterday.

He noted that the workshop comes at a critical time, as illegal firearms continue to fuel murders, robberies, and other violent crimes across the country.

The Justice Minister said the Government is determined to curtail criminal activities and seize firearms through various avenues.

Mr. Chuck said these measures are bearing fruit, with a steady reduction in crime and violence, especially murder.

He is hopeful that the decline in murders will continue for 2026.
