Principal of the Ocho Rios Primary school, Suzette Barnes Wilson said several books, tablets and other items were lost in last night’s fire at the school.
A block, which housed four grade 2 classrooms, a literacy centre/library and a physical education room, was gutted.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) was alerted to the blaze about 10:41 P.M.
Speaking with IRIE FM News today, Mrs Barnes Wilson said an assessment of the damage is underway.
She remains hopeful that the classrooms will be rebuilt by the re-opening of school in September.
Meanwhile, she said the fire has not affected plans for its graduation ceremony.
