Young Jamaicans are being challenged to become the generation that strengthens the country’s democracy, building on the foundation laid by national hero Norman Manley.
The call came from Culture Minister Olivia Grange as she addressed a floral tribute marking the 133rd anniversary of Manley’s birth.
Minister Grange urged young people to protect Jamaica’s democracy, reminding them that “today’s actions become tomorrow’s history.”
She is also encouraging the youth to choose lives of purpose and service.
She further called on all Jamaicans to recommit to Manley’s ideals of service above self, equality before the law, faith in the limitless potential of the Jamaican people and an unwavering commitment to democracy.
