Seiveright says ministry committed to formalizing beauty and personal care services industry
State Minister for Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright says his ministry has committed to getting more businesses in the beauty and personal care services industry formalized allowing for access to bigger opportunities.
Speaking at the opening of the Jamaica International Beauty Expo recently, Mr. Seiveright said many entrepreneurs have the talent to succeed but are limiting their growth by remaining informal.
He said formal businesses are better able to access among other things financing, government support programmes, digital payment systems and more.
He also urged entrepreneurs to think beyond operating successful salons and barbershops and instead focus on building businesses that can expand employ more people export products and compete internationally.
Mr Seiveright further encouraged industry players to embrace artificial intelligence to improve business operations, while noting that careers in hairstyling, barbering and other hands on personal services will be least likely affected by AI.
