Jamaica Stock Exchange says investors nearly tripled over past 10 years, majority under 45 years old

The number of Jamaicans holding ownership stakes in companies listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) has nearly tripled over the past 10 years.
According to JSE’s Chief Executive Officer, Livingstone Morrison, at the end of 2015, the Jamaica Central Securities Depository at the Exchange held just under 150,000 accounts.
Today, that depository holds 427,000.
This growth, Mr. Morrison says, reflects the continued interest of persons to build wealth not only for themselves but also for future generations.
He notes that the majority of these new shareholders are under 45 years old.
