JTA calls for those responsible for killing of 10 y/o Shani Coke to be swiftly brought to justice
The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) is calling for those responsible for the killing of 10-year-old Shani Coke to be swiftly brought to justice.
Shani also known as ‘Kaja’ of Tyre District, Troy, Trelawny was found dead along a dirt track in the community yesterday.
Reports from the Warsop Police are that at approximately 3:00 P.M., residents discovered the child’s body and alerted them.
JTA President Mark Malabver says children are among the most vulnerable groups in society and must be afforded greater protection.
Meanwhile a man identified as Delroy Coke also of Tyre District, Troy, Trelawny was allegedly killed by an angry mob in the same community following the incident.
Police reports indicate that at approximately 7:21 p.m., Coke was allegedly attacked beaten and chopped.
He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations into both deaths are ongoing.
