JTA mourns death of colleague at home in Westmoreland

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), is mourning the death of a colleague, at his home in Mount Airy District, Westmoreland yesterday.

He has been identified as 39-year-old Andre James.

Reports are that about 12 P.M., a relative discovered James’ body and summoned the police.

Officers who responded saw James in a room, with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

JTA President Mark Malabver described the incident as very unfortunate.

He said the killing of Mr. James will have a major impact on his relatives, friends and students he taught.

He said colleagues who interacted with James described him as a passionate teacher.

Mr. Malabver said the JTA will be providing counselling support to affected members.
