The National Works Agency says it is carrying out heavy-duty work along the Water Valley and Hayfield Roads in St. Thomas.
This follows reports of flooding in the parish yesterday.
It is reported that heavy rain and flooding impacted the Bath community and other areas in the parish.
Preliminary reports indicate that 54 homes were flooded and 13 persons are being accommodated at the Bath Primary School shelter.
In an update on social media this morning, the NWA said the works along the Water Valley and Hayfield roads are due to multiple landslides and fallen trees.
The NWA called on residents to continue to exercise caution as they move about, especially in eastern parishes.
