Tourism minister Ed Bartlett has reiterated that his ministry is continuing its drive to change the perception that tourism does not make meaningful contributions to the country.
Speaking at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the rehabilitated Fontabelle to Geddes Town road in St. Mary yesterday, Mr. Bartlett stressed that tourism has been crucial to the country’s economy for decades.
He noted that tourism provides opportunities for wealth creation.
He cited programmes such as Spruce Up through which several communities are benefiting from works that allow visitors to access the areas.
Additionally, the Local First initiative ensures that residents benefit from the sector.
