The Berger Paints Jamaica Limited (BPJL) Board of Directors has approved changes to the company’s organisation, effective, November 13, 2024.
As part of the new governance structure, we wish to announce the following:
Christian Llanos, the Sector Head for the Construction Sector of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies (ANSA McAL) and director of BPJL since August 2023, has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the Board. The ANSA McAL Construction Sector comprises ANSA McAL’s regional Coatings and Blocks businesses. Llanos replaces Adam Sabga, the former Sector Head for the ANSA McAL Construction Sector. During Sabga’s tenure, he successfully led the transition and integration of BPJL into ANSA McAL’s operational and governance structure and set BPJL on its current positive performance trajectory.Andy Mahadeo, the current Sector Head of ANSA McAL’s Chemicals Sector, has vacated his position as a director of BPJL, having assumed the additional responsibility of spearheading the integration of ANSA McAL’s recent landmark acquisition of US-based Chlor-Alkali Producer BLEACHTECH LLC, in Cleveland, Ohio. BLEACHTECH operates two plants in Seville, Ohio and Petersburg, Virginia in the USA. This acquisition is the largest in the ANSA McAL Group’s 143-year history.Nicholas Simeon Camacho, the current Chief Financial Officer of ANSA McAL’s Construction Sector, has been appointed to the Board of BPJL as a Director and to the Audit Committee of the Board.Nicholas Mac Lean, the current Managing Director of ANSA McAL’s Coatings business, has been appointed to the board of BPJL as a Director. Mac Lean oversees the operations of BPJL, Berger Paints Barbados Limited, ANSA Coatings Limited in Trinidad & Tobago and ANSA Coatings Limited in Grenada.
Under the directors' stewardship, BPJL has delivered a strong nine-month performance, with revenue and profit before tax increasing by three per cent and 105 per cent respectively versus the same period last year.
The company said: “We are confident that as BPJL continues to execute its strategic agenda and implement new and innovative strategies, this positive trend will continue through to the end of 2024.”
“The board would like to thank Messrs. Sabga and Mr. Mahadeo for their valuable contributions to the board’s deliberations, and take the opportunity to welcome and congratulate Messrs. Llanos Camacho and Mac Lean on their appointments,” Berger Paints said in a statement.
