Caribbean Cement Company Limited says it has reached another major milestone in its kiln expansion project with the safe installation of a 160-tonne capacity surge bin and solid fuel equipment.

The development ensures a stable and increased supply of fuel to the kiln, during the cement-making process, Carib Cement said.

Managing director of the Rockfort-based entity, Jorge Martinez, expressed satisfaction with the latest progress in the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its operations.

“The successful installation marks a significant step forward in enhancing our production capabilities. This investment is a main milestone of the expansion project to be completed in the first half of 2025 with the aim of increasing the efficiency and stability of our operations. It also demonstrates our commitment to meeting the entire local demand for cement,” he said.

Martinez was speaking following the final event in a series of customer appreciation dinners, held at AC Marriot Kingston Hotel on December 4. The events were designed to recognise and celebrate customers’ performance during the year.

The managing director added that the company remains focused on the continuous improvement of its infrastructure and processes to ensure long-term sustainability and value for its stakeholders, employees, and customers.

Targeted for completion in early 2025, the expansion and increased capacity project is expected to strengthen the self-sufficiency of the cement manufacturing industry, reduce dependency on imports, and reinforce the company’s commitment to supporting the growth of Jamaica’s construction sector and the wider Caribbean.
