CARICOM Reparations Commission describes as productive a recent meeting with Church of England, as it pushes for reparation

The CARICOM Reparations Commission (CRC) has described as productive a meeting it had with three senior clerics from the Church of England on Monday, as it pushes for reparations.

Member of the Commission’s delegation to the United Kingdom (U.K.) and Barbados Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissong, said the church could be a possible ally in the push for reparation.

He was speaking at yesterday’s press conference hosted by the Commission in the U.K.

The trip by the CRC to the U.K. is aimed at advancing its advocacy for reparatory justice.

Ambassador Comissong said the CRC welcomed the Church of England’s apology for its role in chattel slavery.

Meanwhile, CRC Chairman, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles said the CRC has a critical role in assisting the church to heal its internal wounds, so that it can play an active part in healing humanity.
