Holness acknowledges pain, anger and deep concern following fatal shooting of Latoya Bulgin
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has acknowledged that the recent fatal shooting of Latoya Bulgin in St James has caused pain, anger and deep concern across Jamaica and beyond its borders.
Dr Holness commented on the incident today, noting that he has been deliberately silent until this point, because, as prime minister, he should not make statements that are not properly thought out.
The prime minister noted that he received letters and calls from persons within and outside jamaica, urging him to comment on the incident.
Dr. Holness also offered condolences to Bulgin’s family, friends and community.
He says Jamaica has a mechanism to independently investigate agents of the state when a life is lost while they are undertaking their duties.
He underscores that the objective of the state is to preserve and protect life.
