Conflicting reports about where foreign national was fatally shot by police in St. James
There are conflicting reports about where exactly an American man was fatally shot by police, in Montego-Bay St James, today.
The name of the deceased has not been disclosed.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) said based on initial reports, the incident occurred at the Sangster International Airport.
However, Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has dismissed those reports.
A statement from Indecom said it’s reported that about 2:15 A.M., an unauthorized person was seen on the airport grounds.
During apprehension, it is alleged that the man started throwing objects at officers.
One officer discharged his firearm, resulting in the man sustaining injuries.
The wounded man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
However, Minister Vaz has stated that the incident took place on the roadway, in the vicinity of the fuel farm.
