JDF coast guard and police resume search for a policeman and teen at beach in Hellshrie St Catherine, while woman rescued has died

The Jamaica Defence Force coast guard and police are conducting a search at a beach in Hellshire, St. Catherine for a police officer and a 13-year-old boy who are feared to have drowned yesterday.

A woman who was rescued in the incident has succumbed.

She has been identified as 24-year-old Alia Dawkins of Waterford, St. Catherine.

Reports from Hellshire police post are that about 3 PM a boy went swimming and got into difficulties.

The woman went to rescue him and encountered difficulties.

An off duty offer at the location went to assist them and also experienced difficulties.

The police and JDF coast guard were alerted and a coordinated search operation was launched.

Commander for St Catherine south police, Senior Superintendent Leighton Gray says the search party has been out since about 5:45 this morning.
